The number of sessions depends on your condition, severity and individual response. Most patients require between 3 and 6 sessions. Dr Bahl selects the correct protocol at your initial consultation and monitors your response after each session, adapting treatment based on clinical progress rather than applying a fixed number regardless of outcome.

Shockwave therapy is not suitable for patients with active cancer at the treatment site, pregnancy, active infection or open wounds, a pacemaker near the site, an active blood clot (DVT), severe bleeding or clotting disorders, or open growth plates in children and teenagers. Mild discomfort during the session is very common and expected. Some patients experience a temporary increase in symptoms for 24–72 hours, which is a normal part of the biological repair response. Brief skin redness at the treatment site is common and typically resolves within a few hours. Small bruising is uncommon but possible.
